The 2008 US National Yo-Yo Contest will be held Saturday, October 4th with selected Semi-finals on Friday, October 3rd.2008 Championship Titles will be awarded in five divisions: 1A: One long-spin yo-yo
performing string tricks. Pre-registration will be required for all Championship divisions. Semi-final freestyles for selected divisions will take place on the evening of Friday, October 3rd starting at 6pm. The Event Schedule will have further details shortly. In all Championship divisions there will be a 1-minute freestyle semi-final made up of tricks of the players choice, that will advance the best judged players to the finals in each division. For more information see the Freestyle Judging and General Rules pages. Qualification for the 1A Championship requires placement into the top 5 Overall or top 5 Regional at a Regional Contest. The top placing Regional 1A player from each Regional contest is seeded directly to the final. Championship finals consist of a 3-minute freestyle routine made up of tricks of the players choice. Players choosing the Ladder Division will be challenged with over fifty compulsory tricks. In this variation of a traditional contest, a player works his or her way up an increasingly difficult ladder of tricks. This is the seventh year of the National Yo-Yo League. Winners of the 1A division from each of the Regional Contests receive, in addition to a finals seeding, two nights lodging courtesy of the Holiday Inn Chico for the nights of October 3rd and 4th. The 2008 National Spin-Top Contest will be held concurrently and will crown the a National Spin-Top Champion. You can support the contest by reserving tickets for the Saturday Night Awards Dinner.
