The
2005 National Yo-Yo Contest will be held on
Saturday, October 1st, 2005.
Preliminary qualifying for the 3A, 4A and 5A
divisions will be held on the Friday night (September 30th) before
the contest.
Championship titles will be awarded
in five divisions:
1A: One long-spin yo-yo to
perform string tricks.
2A: Two looping yo-yos to perform looping tricks.
3A: Two long-spin yo-yos to perform string tricks.
4A: Off-string, player uses yo-yo not attached
to the string.
5A: Freehand, yo-yo with end of string counterweighted.
Players who plan on competing in one or more
of the Championship divisions must pre-register for the contest.
Check the registration information
link to register.
In the Championship divisions there will be
no compulsory tricks in the preliminary rounds. A 1-minute freestle
preliminary will advance the best players to the finals in each
division. See the Championship Division Freestyle
Judging and
General Rules for more information. League seeded 1A players will
not compete in the preliminary round and are seeded directly into
the finals.
Championship division finals consist of a 3-minute
freestyle routine made up of tricks of the players choice.
Sport
division players will be challenged with
a compulsory trick ladder. In this variation of the traditional
contest, a player works his or her way up an increasingly difficult
ladder of tricks.
This is the fourth year of the National Yo-Yo
League and the Regional Contest system. The winner of the 1A division
from each regional contest earns a seeded spot into the Final as
well as two nights lodging courtesy of the Holiday Inn Chico during
the contest.
The National Spin-Top Contest will be held
concurrently and will crown the 2005 National Spin-Top Champion.
Support the Contest by attending the Saturday
night Awards Dinner and help recognize the individuals who have
significantly contributed to the yo-yo community.
There is always a good meal, plenty of time
to celebrate the happenings of the day, and world-record challenges.
Your paid attendance at the dinner allows the
contest registration to be free.
Remember - winning is a tribute to all players
who attempted the challenge.
