The U.S. National SpinTop Contest is the premier SpinTop competition in the United States and is held annually in Chico, California in conjunction with the National Yo-Yo Contest on the first Saturday of October.

Improvements in the design and manufacture of the yo-yo have recently crept into the SpinTop world. Ball-bearing tips that spin freely and independent of the top have dramatically changed the tricks that are done.

Currently there are two divisions, players may compete in either division. The Sport Division is open to players of all abilities who are not competing in the Spin Top championship. For 2008, the Sport Division will use a 40 trick menu that players may choose from to perform tricks and compete for the highest score. In the championship, a 1 minute freestyle will qualify players to a longer finals frestyle performance.
